Forum Post: Context Capture Service in London / UK?

Interesting write-up about AR/MR, the top pict is of London Bridge Station / St Thomas St, which is a NetworkRail / Bentley project. Is there a list of service providers that an architectural or engineering firm will be able to call to generate a Context Capture model in London or the UK? Say, the architect gets an enquiry (or the engineer if it is an infrastructure job) for a site in London. Who would he/she call? Are there any firms that have the cameras and drones, CC subscription and the hardware to deliver within say a week? Ideally, the service would be web-based, where the user just identifies the area which he would like a CC model for. The service provider would reference the Ordinance Survey info for the 2d/3d CAD data; extract the info automatically to be included as Ref attachments. Any StreetView data would also be pulled for inclusion Ueber a mobile scanner crew who will do a drive-by with a photo/laser scanner. Ueber a registered drone crew who will check if the area to be captured is in the no fly zone first,. If so, I guess it will only be street level photos. Generate geo-referenced reality mesh / dgn with KML anchors, LumenRT lightcube or host on ProjWise ContextShare web access. ? Extra Credit: Pull planning and other info off the local authority website. Conservation area? Listed Building? What policies are enforced? site planning application history. Land registry search. Wayleaves, easements, covenants? Rights of Light checks. View Corridor checks. ? Bentley could do itself a favour by setting up a relationship with a local land surveyor to get the service off the ground, to build CC awareness on the ground, and grow its market. Currently precariously left to a dwindling number of Bentley enthusiasts in large engineering firms, who are doing it on the side. It would also help to inject Bentley products into the early stages of the project... and help a lot of offices who are old time Mstn users, that still use Mstn for the concept design but have a larger part of the office on R*vit for construction docs. I wouldn't be surprised if other non-traditional clients like developers, planning consultants, landscape architects and even real estate types will bite. Who knows, may be even local authorities.
