Hi Oto,
Contextcapture Editor is separate product but it is based on Descartes so for me moslty I consider it to be equal
Equal to what? As you wrote, they are two different products.
With Descartes there are still some mess in CE similar as for LumenRT(designer edition) as both are bundled products in Microstation installation and also as separate downloads so it is possible that sometimes bundled product is newer with new Microstation and sometimes in downloads there are newer version.
This is feature related closesy how software development works. There is no safe and efficient way how to release the code in two different variants (because depends on different base code versions) in the same time. In my opinion LumenRT is pretty different, because it's not based on MicroStation.
It is hard to check bundled version number without installing it first.
It's probably true. But I don't understand why it should be a problem. When you use Descartes for MicroStation, with every MicroStation you will receive exactly the version certified for this particular MicroStation version. You cannot choose another one. So when you own Descartes for MicroStation, you will/can upgrade when MicroStation is released. When you own Descartes Standalone, you will/can upgrade when Descartes is released. Regards, Jan
