Forum Post: RE: Exporting/saving in 3mx format in CC editor

Hi Johannes, The best process to "trim the edges", if you still have access to the ContextCapture project, is to draw the boundaries of your trim in a DGN file in ContextCapture Editor and then use the production clipping option to do a new production with the right boundaries: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q47cntk15g8 . This will only recompute the export, so it will be faster than a new reconstruction from scratch, and it will produce a new 3sm or 3mx with cleanly trimmed edges. This is available starting in ContextCapture Update 9. You can also trim 3sms directly in (the latest version of) ContextCapture Editor if you add a clip to the 3sm (use the "Clip" function in the CC Editor tools) and then use the "scalablemesh saveas" keyin, which will save a new 3sm with the clip applied to it. There isn't currently a way to trim either a 3sm or 3mx "in-place" directly on your original file. Both those options will produce a second output with the trim applied. If you need different edits than just trimming/removing parts of the mesh, however, we don't have another option than to retouch each tile currently.
