Wiki Page: ContextCapture surface constraints solution

Sometimes users can get an issue with ContextCapture surface constraint and it can be cause by erroneous images alignment. The altitude values in the metadata are not good at all and that makes the AT can not find a good orientation: The scene will be bent, so the constraint will be shifted accordingly. To solve the problem, GCP can be placed by hand in order to recover a good georeferencing. The procedure is: Create a block > Load images Submit AT while selecting Automatic Vertical as positioning mode > you will get a good orientation but the scene is not georeferenced. Open Google earth and ensure the following settings from Tools > options are enabled: Decimal Degrees for “Show lat/Long” and Meters for “Units of Measurement”. Now choose 4 relevant points then note their coordinates. Go back in CC then click on Survey tab , Set the SRS to WGS84 + EMG 96 as Geoid then Create the 4 GCP that corresponds to these points (report each of the GCP in 4 images at least) Now resubmit the AT and choose “ Use control points for rigid registration ” positioning mode. You should have a scene that is georeferenced. Now you can apply a surface constraint. From Google earth, draw a simple polygon around the corresponding area. Once created, open properties of the polygon, click on Altitude tab and set the good altitude value as Absolute. You can see this value in the bottom-right side of Google earth. Here the altitude of the water is 75m. In CC, create a new reconstruction and import the constraint.
