Forum Post: RE: Pointools export - Gathering data for POD never ends?

So. Tomorrow it is. Importing 96 pointclouds Each is a .txt-file with 10.000.000 points. Import entire folder! Considering there is about 100 pointclouds, I want to use the "import folder" function. This functionality is well hidden though. You must first select a single file, and THEN click the "import folder" button, which makes pointools find the other files in THAT files folder.. odd. Well, yesterday I found that manually importing a single one of the XYZ exported pointcloud.txt files worked fine, and creates a tiny POD-file in a (fairly) short while. Reading 10.000.000 points and writing them to POD takes about two minutes for pointools, (Using only a single core though). Join into ONE pointcloud: Join into one POD: Pointools exploded after about 1,5 hours. Entered the GUI-freakout-infinity-loop. NOT Join into ONE pointcloud: Without the "join into one", pointools still decided to make just one POD-file, but contrary to what I thought, it actually managed to finish without crashing! But said POD file now contains a lot of pointclouds inside . Only visible in pointools though. and why should I care about that division? (Yes, that was a question!) Well.. visible.. but.. not visible.. as no points are showing! What I see (this is all ment to aid you in helping me.. ): The POD has a tree-like structure, with 96 "clouds". 95 of the 96 clouds have a Lower bound and upper bound and size with the value !?! All clouds have a pointcount of 10.000.000, (showing on the eye-i-bubble icon line) ONLY the cloud (I picked to begin with I think) has an upper and lower bound that is NOT . But those values are through the roof wrong! (I cannot copy and paste from the pointools Properties, so here goes an attempt to write the upper bound. Lower bound: (0,0,0) - ok, that one was easy. Upper bound : 321193556840052090000000000000000000000.000000, 5452167891245780000000000000000000.000000, 9405328933590120000000000.000000 Size, matches upper. .. I admit to not counting the zeros that carefully.. *sigh* The lines in the .txt files seem to have proper coordinates, and looks fine in the import dialogue!: 484798.82128906 6144611.49218726 28.57799911 78 71 39 0.50000000 484823.67089844 6144672.53808784 29.19799805 172 168 165 0.50000000 484830.08789063 6144681.91210556 28.81299973 104 101 75 0.50000000 484812.76562500 6144648.57275295 29.10899734 170 166 163 0.50000000 484794.68945313 6144604.36718750 28.81900024 130 125 120 0.50000000 484816.94042969 6144669.02587700 29.79499817 165 161 158 0.50000000 Where on earth did these utterly insane coordinates come from? Why are all the pointclouds empty? Where are my points? "is there anybody out there?"
