Forum Post: Recommended System Configuration and Graphics Cards, Cluster Computing

We use ContextCapture Center in a research and development environment, and we are looking to improve our processing capabilities. We have large datasets (multiple square mile cities), and we have set up cluster computing. Currently we have one primary machine, a secondary machine, access to 10-12 blades with lower than recommended hardware, and are looking at getting a third well-built machine. There are rough recommendations on the ContextCapture help file, and it suggests contacting technical support to design more powerful configurations. I recently viewed a webinar in which a Bentley representative mentioned that a first place to start in reducing process time is the GPU. My understanding is that various graphics cards perform better for certain computing processes and software. We are looking to purchase one or more graphics cards. Could you please give a graphics card recommendation (We currently have GeForce GTX 780 Ti cards, and are looking at Quadro cards (K, M, or P; 4000 or 5000))? Additionally, how much RAM is recommended to be well matched with the graphics cards in processing capability? Currently we have 256GB on one machine and 32GB on another machine. Any other helpful tips or recommendations regarding system/network requirements would be helpful. We do mostly 3D Mesh reconstruction and Point Cloud reconstruction. Another question: When we use UNC file paths to run a cluster, does the computer running the ContextCapture Master go through the network to access files on its own drives or does it connect to them locally? Thank you for your help!
