Product(s): MicroStation Version(s): 10.02.00.39 Environment: N\A Area: Raster Subarea: N\A Problem I recently downloaded JPEG 2000 aerial imagery (.JP2) from the USGS National Map. I'm trying to attach the image in a DGN, which has been assigned state plane geographical coordinates. When the raster is attached I get the following warning in the message center... "We cannot create a valid coordinate system from: file://C:\Design\Conceptual\m_3609525_se_15_1_20130818_20131029.jp2. Use design coordinate system by default." JP2 image was downloaded from http://viewer.nationalmap.gov/basic/ I am able to attach similar imagery from another source using GeoTIFF format, without any problems. Coordinate system of JPEG2 image can be seen in ArcMAP. In Raster Manager it does not show a coordinate system in MicroStation V8i and MicroStation Connect Edition. Solution The JP2 raster images can be converted to GeoTIFF or Erdas IMG format in ArcMap. Raster Manager will then be able to attach raster images in Raster Manager and read the GeoCS. Defect 295661 has been filed for the ability to read the coordinate system of USGS JP2 images. Original Author: Frank McAllister
