Forum Post: The model is tilted wrongly while using item modeling and scaling
I'm aware the issue was raised, mainly with georef but my task is rather simple and seems it happen more often than before - modeling an artifact and signing up a scale attached to it (no georef is needed) I'm getting the object wrongly oriented. The ideas brought up so far (ones I've looked at) did assist. I must have the scale accuracy remain of course. Is there a way to photo and have such an issue? The objects are actually laying on the ground so theoretically it should not happen. Otherwise the result is great so it's not an issue of quality or lack of points. Can't I just "advice" the ContextCapture what is the right "box" orientation? Many thanks, Michael

Forum Post: Water surface definition in Context Capture
I'm running Context Capture Desktop Update 15 - v10.15.0.21 I'm finding the AT capabilities of Update 15 a great improvement on earlier versions. The area I am modelling has three water surfaces and unwanted reflections are causing problems. I am now at a stage where I would like to use the facility to prevent the reflection effects. The three areas are a swimming pool; a large pond (~80m by ~20m) which includes an island that I need to model, and a meandering stream about 2m wide. They are at different elevations. I can see them on Google Earth and can use that to get polygons defining the perimeters, but it won't be exact because Google has trees that cover some of the perimeter. I can separately establish the height of the water surface in my coordinate system (WGS84). The User Manual implies it can be done but it doesn't tell me how. Some questions:- 1. Is it better to take a water boundary that is slightly bigger than the real surface and let the model build the solid ground over the top of my water, or should the boundary be smaller than the real edge, which might leave a gap. 2. How do I deal with the island? 3. Can I edit the kml polygon from Google by hand to include height information? 4. At what stage, and how, do I incorporate this in my model? Presumably the AT is unchanged and it is done in the reconstruction. 5. Do you have any video guides or documentation that would help? Thanks for looking at this. Chris Burgoyne

Forum Post: LIDAR Data too big
Hi, my lidar data E57 files are on an external drive that my company setup to handle large files. When adding these files to my CC project directory it keeps crashing. Does anyone think not having these files stored locally is nthe reason for this crash?

Hi, I have a problem whit reconstruction step, ContextCapture engine(V4.4.10.336) gives this error: What's going on here? What does this error code mean? please help me to solve my problem.

Hello, I note you have Vulkan enabled. This is not recommended when only a single graphics card has been installed. Please open to ContextCapture settings and disable the Vulkan option. After that try resubmitting the task.

Hi Michael , You can try correcting the orientation with the use of fake control points. see the link below for details: communities.bentley.com/.../the-model-is-upside-down-after-aerotriagulation-and-no-block-file-has-been-used

Forum Post: RE: [Python API Contextcapture] Automatic tie point export
Small update for CC Update 15. Now added option to input coordinate system. Before executing the script open it for edit and adjust projectDirPath , outputFilePath , outputSRS to your needs. Also made a script which allows to export AT points to LandXML format which could be used for quick volume calculations. But keep in mind that it is not correct ground extraction so suitable only if no vegetation or other objects(vehicles etc) are on surface( check for spikes in results ). communities.bentley.com/.../dump_5F00_TiePoints2xyz_2D00_SRS.zip communities.bentley.com/.../dump_5F00_TiePoints2landxml_2D00_SRS.zip

From what version it is no longer recommended as it is recommended in Help: This feature can use several GPUs, even from different vendors (Nvidia, AMD, but not Intel). While it is beneficial with several GPUs, it also can be used with one single GPU only.

The help was amended. My advice remains the same.

Forum Post: RE: Error: task failed (returned : 286547989)
So the multi-GPU support is dropped? I no longer see any mention in Help.

Forum Post: RE: Error: task failed (returned : 286547989)
Multi-GPU support is still an option. You must have more that one supported graphics card installed to use this option.

Forum Post: RE: The model is tilted wrongly while using item modeling and scaling
Thanks Felix, I've tried already but with no success. I must have my model accurately scaled not only straight. Must be another way, at least to minimize the phenomenon in the filed. I'm doing archaeological modeling of large artifacts like architectural elements which shouldn't be to complex. Sometimes it's smooth and seems getting worse. Cheers, Michael

Forum Post: RE: The model is tilted wrongly while using item modeling and scaling
To have it accurately scaled you would also need to add a scale constraint: www.youtube.com/watch
↧
Forum Post: RE: The model is tilted wrongly while using item modeling and scaling
Of course, the scaling is accurate. I use a manual scale which scaled later. How do I do the both is the question. Fake points for orientation plus a different accurate scaling. It's not the same. I tried on the half meter scale but it didn't work. The repetition of the issue with simple objects set of a solid ground must be something the developers should tackle. I understand that with some objects it's an issue, but these are just large stones on soil.

Forum Post: RE: The model is tilted wrongly while using item modeling and scaling
Have you tried just using a scale constraint and adding an axis Constraint to corrrect the orientation?
↧
↧
Forum Post: RE: The model is tilted wrongly while using item modeling and scaling
No, I tried a fake 3 points on the manual scale but didn't accept it (perhaps too close). How do you add axis without three points?
↧
Forum Post: RE: The model is tilted wrongly while using item modeling and scaling
Disregard the fake control points procedure. You would still need to select 3 points as part of the constraint procedure . Two (A & B) for the axis and a third to set the vertical direction. These are not control points. Please refer to the ContextCapture User manual, page 73
